My name is Martin May, and I am a semi-retired Chartered Accountant living and working in north London.

I am a documentary photographer and much of my spare time is spent wandering the streets of London taking pictures of the ebb and flow of life going on around me. I am on the lookout for extraordinary random elements which are often hiding in plain sight, and when brought together make for an artful, abstract, intriguing, amusing or strangely graphic photo. I am particularly interested in scenes which have a lot of shadow, high contrast, silhouettes, movement and strong colours, although occasionally I will display a picture with strong elements in black and white.

Most of my work is in London, but I have also presented in these pages a selection of photos, from my visits to other areas of the UK, Europe, the Venice carnival, Valencia, Vietnam and Kolkata/ Assam
